Got a favorite place you buy your food, something you'd like to recommend, a question about what to buy/where to get it, this is the thread!

Famer's Markets! Seriously guys, I know I posted about this on the blog but omg, they are amazing. So much food! So many vendors! Produce and pies and kettle corn and funnel cakes and jewelry and everything you could ever imagine. It's a dream world. And the good for you food is at it's best- local, fresh, in season! mmmmm.....

OK, here's what my idea of food was: IF it's cheap, get lots of it (Raman, instant pasta, soda). That is how I got overweight.
Now: I love farmers markets too. We also get our beef from a local farmer, grass fed, free range. I like Win Co for my bulk goods (couscous, wild rice, basmati rice, herbs etc) and I grow what I can. I love spinach, so I grow a lot of it. Basil too, love it so we have like 3 plants. I make my own bread. I like knowing what is in it (yay Red Mill!) My hubby and I both love to cook, so it works out well, that if I don't feel like cooking he will- we eat out really rarely.
The change has helped my mood a ton, and our kids have pretty diverse tastes in food. I don't have as much of a sugar craving as I used to, and I can actually feel it coming on now. I have made a large tray of brownies today (a special treat!) and I know I probably wont have such a decadent dessert again for at least a week. I just won't feel like it. A tub of ice cream can stay in our freezer for a month, because no one thinks to eat it.
((but get this, I still don't lose weight! I am one who absolutely must exercise lots I guess))

Hey Amber! Happy Monday! Sorry I'm just now replying but I had a thought- have you ever used something to track what you're eating? I know that, for me, a lot of the time the issue I have is much more about portion control than it is anything else. It also doesn't help that I frequently move as much as a stone... but I digress. I use The Daily Plate over at Livestrong.com to track what I'm eating and frequently go so far as to measure out my portions so I know exactly how much is going in. When I started doing that, I was really blow away by how much (in terms of quantity) I was eating, even when it was stuff that is really good for me. Might help you with losing weight! And, really, I think we are all people who must exercise! It's summer, let's move!

On a side note everyone, the beverage carts at the Golf Course are not good vendors. They were evil vendors who gave me free beer...more than once...and how I love them for it. Of course, they gave everyone free beer because it was a sponsored event.

Last weekend, DH and I hit up our beloved Farmer's Market and I totally spent a bunch of time talking with some meat vendors trying to choose who is going to be my new egg and chicken provider. I love how stoked they all get to tell me about how their chickens are kept and fed. Then I bought ground bison from a local bison ranch! Way to go, Idaho!
