And with that, Hi! I'm Andy, I like video games, food (way too much), and pretending I'm Spiderman. I work at Bob's Red Mill in Portland, OR (IT Department) Happily married with one kid and another on the way I want to be in better shape by the time PAX Prime starts so I'm not walking around sweating and mouth breathing loudly and getting mistaken for a Boomer.

Hey all! Jenn here, the girl at Gamer Girl Gets Thin. As you know, if you've found this forum, I like video games, I turn into Gollum around food (especially sugar) and I'm trying to level my way toward 80 in this thing we call health and fitness. Happily married and without the childrens for now. I call my husband DH, for darling hubs on the blog. I'm currently trying to grind my way to an epic back-end (gotta keep it clean for the kiddies) with no real event in mind. In a dream world, I'll look smashing in a bikini before my 30th birthday. Luckily I've got 2 years left of 20s so I can totally do this!

Hello, I'm Amber Slatosky. I'm the only one in the world, so I'm way too easy to find. This makes for one polite gamer I work at home, and part time in a gym. Now that is pretty pathetic considering at the time I write this I am over 230 lbs. It does provide an excellent resource for me to really bite the bullet and work out like I should. I think I do pretty well with food- sometimes I overindulge but I do eat /good/ food. I (or my hubby) make it all from scratch. We have to because we have two kids and lots of medical bills. Thankfully few of those bills are related to my daughter's open heart surgery that she had at one week of age (she's doing great now!). For her sake I embark upon this quest. I need to set an example of someone integrated into a technologically adept society and able to maintain good heart health. Eh... this is getting long. I am a Daughter of the Horde (google it!) and regularly run ICC. I need to reach the same level of fitness IRL, regularly storming the citadel known as the Gym. I'm the same age as you Jenn! o/ I think a bikini is out of the question though, as kids have left a permanent bikini-proof tummy in their wake. I wouldn't mind fitting into a nice TYR though, and my eventual goal is to swim the English channel in the course of a month. 21 miles in a month is not bad! From there, new goal. Maybe all the minipets.

Hey everyone!! I'm Toni, from PA...came across your blog in someone's post on fatsecret.com (the site I use to log my food & exercise)--I'm SO excited to see there are others like me out there who are getting healthy & losing weight too!! I started this journey about 3 months ago at about 246 lbs & so far am down to 219...good progress but I still have a way to go--my goal is to be able to dress up as Power Girl for next year's Comic Con (yep, I'm a comic book geek too) ...gaming, comic books, movies & music--that's me. Oh, and I collect PEZ dispensers, have about 300 of 'em so far. Ok, before I start rambling on, I'll stop. Look forward to getting to know everyone here better!!

Hey, all - Devin here, from Southern California. Found the forum via Jenn's blog, via a mutual friend. I'm into tabletop RPGs, used to play MMOs, occasionally play in a fantasy baffee LARP, and am currently playing at being a professional comic book creator, with a Bachelor's Degree in Comic Art to prove it. Since I'm not LARPing as much as I used to, back when I was in my twenties, I'm not getting as much exercise as I would like to, and nowhere near as much as I should, given my sedentary lifestyle. I'm currently 37, at 6' tall and 259 lbs. I would like to be younger and slimmer, but I can only fix one of those. I loved Jenn's idea of thinking of exercise and weight loss in RPG/MMO terms - earning XP, leveling up, improving your stats and getting better gear (like muscle definition, a six-pack, kudos from the wife, etc.). Additionally, it would make me feel a lot less self-conscious when I put on the latex elf-ears and run around the woods: "I'm...I'm a...an Elf...well-used to...to sprinting through...through the wild... *huff puff wheeze*" I love hiking and camping, so I'm planning to do more of that. But I also need ways to fit exercise into my daily routine, and of course, I need to eat better. Good luck on your goal, Toni! I'm currently reading PG's "A New Beginning" arc - great artwork, and fun stuff.

Hi, I'm Rowan aka Rosz (all my toons have Rosz in their names somewhere)
I came across your link on my guild's "Weight Loss Support" subforum and I posted it to Gamers the Gathering on Fatsecret (where I log my food and exercise).
That was a week or so ago and I thought perhaps I should register and say "hi". I really love the way you weave lifestyle and wow metaphors.
/me waves at fellow DotH Amber (thought that is *not* the guild with the subforum mentioned above LOL I'm an altoholic)

Omg, Devin. I'm dying laughing right now. Like almost shot coffee out of my nose (which, while coffee is delicious for mouth and throat, it is not awesome for the nasal passage). Also, Rowan, a bit welcome to you!! Super glad to have you and thanks for sharing us on fatsecret.com!

I'm glad I could clear your nasal passages for you, but may I recommend a Neti pot next time? One of our other friends, who is heavier than myself, had long sworn he would never play an Elf due to that very reason. But at one point we managed to convince him to do it. He explained that he had been the Elven ambassador to the Dwarven nation for a very long time. But since he's used that excuse, I can't. So I guess I'll just have to lose weight.

I'm too fat to Run from Renewal. So it looks like younger is my best bet. lol And also, Im super glad you play table top RPGs cause i totally want to do that but really have no idea how haha. There's no power button, I don't know where to start! bwahaha!

Hello everyone, I'm Christina, also from Southern California. Actually, I'm Devin's little sister, so I'm obligated to tag along, right? I found the forums the same way Devin did, through a mutual friend's recommendation of Jenn's blog.
I'm 32, 5'2", and currently about 145 pounds. My goal is to lose about 20 to 25 pounds, which has been the hardest to lose so far. I got down to 130 last year, and gained it all back in the last six months. I'm happily married and the mother of three young children. I'm a teacher, but I currently teach for a charter school which works with families that homeschool their kids. What that means for me is that nearly 100 percent of my job is done sitting down in front of a computer, broken up by short periods of sitting in my car (during which it is impossible for me to not eat or drink a soda), and then periods of sitting down with families and talking with them, trying to politely refuse their offer of treats or sugary drinks.
I don't game as much as I used to, but I still enjoy trying to fit in an occasional tabletop RPG, and I get far too easily sucked into my computer games. I cook fairly healthy food, but snacking and being sedentary are my battles. I'm trying to get more active (I actually have a gym membership which goes months without being used) and watch what I'm absent-mindedly stuffing into my face at night. I of course want to look better in my bikini and clothes, but I also want to hopefully avoid a lot of the health problems my parents have had as a result of being overweight; particularly diabetes and high blood pressure.
Glad to meet you all!
